M/V Golden Gate (SFCA)

Built new at Kockums Shipyard as hull number 292. She was delivered in April 1948. Golden Gate could take 1.400 tons bunker in her double-bottom tanks. Golden Gate was equipped with two Kockum-MAN 7-cylinder two - stroke double-acting diesel engine D7Z 72/120A delivering 16.400 i.h.p. She had seven hatches and ten 3-tons Asea deck cranes and four 5-tons cranes. She had an all-welded hull and was built as an open shelterdecker and orginally planned to go as an a closed shelterdecker. In 1963 she was modernized at Reinstahl Nordseewerke in Emden and rebuilt for heavy fuel oil and the hatches  rebuilt with Mac Gregor hatch covers.She was sold 1972 to AB Järnsida in Gothenburg for 1.000000 SEK. AB Järnsida sold her same year to Thailand and she was registered in Panama and renamed to Ahn Wei. She was scrapped in Taiwan 1973. She weighed 9000 Dw.ton and had a speed at 22,6 knots. Golden Gate´s first commander was C.O.Holmberg and chief engineer S.T.Strandberg.
